The FX4 package adds improved off-road ability with all-terrain tires, suspension tuning, underbody protection, and additional driving modes to the XLT and Lariat trims.
Powertrain and Performance
The 2022 Ford Maverick is the first pickup truck in America to come standard with a hybrid drivetrain. The base powertrain across all trims is a 2.5-liter 191 horsepower four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor to drive the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission.
The Maverick truck is also available across all trim levels with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. This power is sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission to the front wheels; all-wheel drive is optional on all trims.
Towing and Payload Capacity
The standard Maverick hybrid powertrain offers a payload capacity of 1,500 pounds and a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds. The Maverick's towing capacity is doubled to 4,000 pounds when equipped with the turbocharged EcoBoost engine and the optional towing package, enough to tow a 20-foot boat or small travel trailer.
The Mavericks truck bed measures 4.5 feet and features the adaptable FLEX BED system to ensure your cargo is secure. Featuring up to 10 cargo tie-down points and a multi-position tailgate, you can balance and tie-down 4x8 sheets of plywood when the tailgate is in the mid-position. The Maverick's bed is molded with notches allowing you to segment the bed to secure and separate cargo.
Fuel Economy
The standard 2022 Ford Maverick is easily more efficient than any other pickup on the market.
The hybrid variant of the Maverick is EPA-rated at 42 miles per gallon city and 33 mpg highway, 37 mpg combined, providing a total range of 500 miles.
The EcoBoost is rated at 23 mpg city/30 mpg highway with front-wheel drive; 22 mpg city/29 mpg highway for all-wheel drive.

All Maverick trucks come in a crew cab configuration, with four full-sized doors and a spacious back seat. The interior provides several storage compartments and bins throughout, including a central armrest between the front seats, pockets to stow large water bottles in the doors, and large areas beneath the rear seat.
