America's favorite truck for 75 years running is back, and the brand new 2023 Ford F-150s have even more to offer since the extensive 2021 Ford F-150 redesigns. From brand new off-road and luxury trim package options to the ground-breaking new Ford hybrid truck, the new F-150s has as much function as it does form to offer. Putnam Ford breaks down the essential new spec options for the 2023 line – and we think you'll agree there is much to be excited about.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The 2023 Ford F150 features numerous engine options, all paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission:

  • 290 HP 3.3L V6
  • 400 HP 5.0L V8
  • 325 HP Twin-Turbo 2.7L V6
  • 400 HP Twin-Turbo 3.5L V6
  • 250 HP 3.0L Diesel V-6

The first even F150-series Ford hybrid truck is also an option, breaking the mold again. With a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 and 35 kW electric motor, the 400 HP hybrid powertrain provides up to 700 miles per tank.

Towing and Payload Capacity

Minimum hauls are fully accommodated with the base model's 8,200 lb. towing capacity, while maximum loads tap out at the twin-turbo 3.5L V6's 14,000 lb. capacity, with all other powertrains hovering between the 12,000 and 13,000 lb. range. As for payload, the 2023 Ford F150 ranges from 1,840 to 3,250 pounds.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

For turbocharged powertrain options, the 2023 Ford F150's fuel economy estimates range from 18 MPG city / 24 highway (3.5L V6) to 20 MPG city / 26 highway (2.7L V6). It's significantly higher than the baseline powertrain's estimated 14 MPG city / 19 highway – and the 2023 F150 Ford hybrid truck beats all at 25 MPG city / 26 highway.

What's New for the 2023 F-150?

The aluminum body and refined powertrain options give the new F150s even more, pick-up and go, bolstering the advances Ford made during the Ford 2021 F150 overhaul. Ford's 2023 F150 trim packages are designed equally for cost-effective work efficiency and for those eager to spend more for the absolute top of its class. All new Rattler packages give off-road enthusiasts everything they need with a touch of style, while the 75th-anniversary Heritage Edition ushers in the new models with bold two-tone finishes.

New Rattler Package

The Rattler package features all-terrain tires, skid plates, specialized shock absorbers, hill descent control, and an electronic rear-locking differential for affordable off-road action. 4WD comes standard, as does a dual exhaust system. Even with its lower price point, Ford threw in some flash, including a bronze-accented interior with onyx seats and incredibly attractive exterior color options.

2023 Ford F-150 Heritage Edition

Ushering in the F-150's 75th birthday, the two-tone Heritage Editions are reminiscent of the classic 1970s- and '80s-era models, and its interior is similarly well-contrasted, complete with Heritage badging on the console. Based on the XLT trim, the Heritage Edition will have all the standard features F-150 lovers have come to love. Orders have already begun, so contact the best San Mateo Ford dealer today.

2023 F-150® TREMOR™

A wilderness off-road masterpiece, the Tremor features aggressive 18-inch wheels, sporting 33-inch all-terrain tires set apart for a wider stance and higher ground clearance. More than a mere trim package, the Tremor's front hub knuckles, and upper control arms have been fully redone, and the front and rear shocks are precisely tuned for softer damping at slower speeds.

Its 400 HP 5.0L V8 provides 410 lb.-ft. torque via its twin-independent variable cam timing. Ford's port-fuel and direct-injection (PFDI) system increase power by equipping each cylinder with two injectors. Truly a model in its own right, you'll feel fully situated over even the wildest terrain.

2023 F-150® RAPTOR®

Featuring the third-generation twin-turbo 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine, the Raptor provides higher output than most other 2023 Ford F150s. Combined with its more refined twin-turbo, the 2023 Raptor's 10.5:1 compression ratio creates an unreal 510 lb.-ft of torque with 450 horsepower. With upgraded engine management software, that torque goes where it needs for faster off-line starts, greater traction, and improved throttle response.

Higher-powered fans ensure it doesn't overheat during intensive use, and its FOX Live-Valve Racing Shox is the largest yet featured on the Raptor, creating a balanced ride on smooth, rough, or even slipping terrain. Your ride is even smoother thanks to the Raptor's extended trailing arms and 24-inch coil spring, meaning the sweet beast under the hood will feel like a subtle thrum for those lucky enough to enjoy its plush interior.
