Performance
The Ford F-150 offers multiple engine options to suit drivers' unique needs.
- The base engine is a 3.3-liter V6 that creates up to 290 horsepower.
- A 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6, which is quick and offers a rapid response in traffic, delivering 325 horsepower.
- The ever-popular Coyote motor, a 5.0-liter V8, is also one of the staple engines in the F-150 lineup, providing 400 horsepower.
- A twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 is available, offering drivers 400 horsepower as well. Finally, a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine with up to 250 horsepower is available.
- Ford also offers a hybrid powertrain for environmentally conscious drivers featuring a 3.5 twin-turbocharged V6 engine and a 35-kWh electric motor that generates 400 horsepower and gets up to 700 miles of driving range. The hybrid model also powers an onboard generator that can run tools or other electric products as needed.
Each gas-powered engine mates with a ten-speed automatic transmission and comes with either a standard rear-wheel drive or a four-wheel drive.
Packages
Bay Area Customers can also add option packages and get a four-wheel drive and other towing-assist technology. The King Ranch trim offers a variable-assist steering system to make the F-150 more agile.
Burlingame area drivers who want to maximize performance may opt for the Tremor package, which adds all-terrain tires, an upgraded suspension, a locking rear differential, and a 4WD transfer case that is standard on the Raptor edition.
The standard powertrain equips the F-150 to tow approximately 8,200 pounds. However, the maximum towing capacity of the F-150 is 14,000 pounds, with a payload of up to 3,250 pounds, achieved by opting for the twin-turbocharged V6 option. The diesel powertrain is rated to tow about 12,100 pounds.
